What's new in Crew 4.2

Inviting your crew is one obvious tap, notifications live at the top of every trip, and the travel agent is much easier to read.

4.2 is out. Here's what's new.

Inviting your crew

Every trip has an Invite button, right where you'd look for it. Tap it and you get a page built for one job: grab the link and send it to whoever should be on the trip.

Getting everyone in is the step that makes the rest of Crew work, so it's the one thing that shouldn't take any thinking.

Updates moved to the top

There's a bell in the top bar of every trip. Tap it for everything that's happened, and turn on push notifications right from the first row.

Worth doing. Notifications are how a crew stays on the same page between now and the trip: someone adds a dinner, moves a booking, pays for something, and everyone knows without going looking. That's most of what Crew is for.

If notifications are switched off at the iPhone level, that row tells you and takes you straight to the right place in Settings.

The travel agent is easier to read

Ask it where to eat and the answer runs the full width of the thread, so four paragraphs about a neighbourhood read like something written rather than something squeezed into a text message.

You land at the start of the answer when it arrives. And if you scrolled off to read something else while you waited, you stay where you are and a line tells you it's ready.

The trip screens

A proper pass across every tab. Same cards, same borders, same type, so the whole app feels like one thing.

The Crew tab in particular: your people are one clean list now, which reads a lot better once a trip has fifteen or twenty in it.

Plus a pile of smaller fixes across chat, photos and the crew list.

If something in here isn't right, there's a Feedback item in the menu and it comes straight to me.
